Castille Urbana: Hitting a Home Run Near Tropicana Field

Saint Petersburg Development Ty Joslyn June 20, 2024

The first thing that struck me about Castille Urbana on 3rd Ave S. and 6th St. S. was its incredible proximity to Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Just imagine living blocks away from the center of a $6.5 billion redevelopment project, one of the largest St. Pete has ever seen! This area, originally known as Peppertown, has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Peppertown was a bustling neighborhood where African American laborers, who built the Orange Belt Railroad in 1888, called home. It also included smaller communities like Cooper's Quarters, Little Egypt, and Forty Quarters. In the 1970s, this vibrant neighborhood was unfortunately demolished to make way for the interstate and what we now know as Tropicana Field. The area got its name from two large gas storage tanks owned by the city, and portions of it were developed into the 86 acres of Tropicana Field we see today.

Now, let me tell you more about Castille Urbana. This contemporary, urban, five-story condo building boasts 40 units and an onsite parking garage, and is ideally situated near music venues, retail shops, restaurants, museums, and more. There are a total of six floor plans, with only the two and three-bedroom plans still available. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom SOVANA unit spans 1,406 sq. ft., while the GARDENA and ADAGE units each feature 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms at 1,650 sq. ft. The GARDENA and ADAGE are essentially mirror images of each other at the ends of the building, with the primary difference being the balcony setup: the ADAGE boasts dual balconies off the living/dining room, whereas the GARDENA offers a single 12 x 4 balcony.

One of the standout features of Castille Urbana is its low monthly fees, especially compared to other luxury condos in the area. At the time of writing this blog, fees are estimated to be in the $400s per month, covering maintenance, a community room for small parties and gatherings, an onsite fitness facility, a dog park relief station with a dog wash, and a bike rack area.

Inside, the units are designed with modern features such as Moen fixtures, 3cm quartz countertops, two-panel decorative doors, elongated toilets, and 42-inch kitchen cabinets. The sales center even showcases samples of these high-quality items, including a neutral wide plank engineered wood floor that can easily complement any decor theme. Depending on your unit's floor, ceiling heights can reach up to 10 feet, with the lower units offering a respectable 9-foot height, perfectly complementing the large 8-foot windows.

Looking to the future, the new proposals and renderings for the area include a 30,000-seat domed facility, an African-American history museum, 1,500 residential units, a 500-room hotel, office space, stores, and the new ballpark. While much of this $6.5 billion development is not expected to be completed until at least 2028, the anticipation is palpable.

If you're excited about the potential of Castille Urbana and its surrounding area as I am, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Let's discuss how you can become a part of this vibrant community and secure your place in one of St. Pete's most promising developments. Tysoldstpete.com
